A community ceremony in Bonnyville will honour Missing and Murdered Exploited Indigenous Peoples, as well as survivors and families affected by the legacy of stolen children. The October 5 event will feature speakers Rachelle Venne, and Stephanie Harpe, with a banquet and ceremony at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre.
Angie McGillivray, Mental Health Coordinator with the Bonnyville Friendship Centre, spoke with CFWE as she invites the Bonnyville community to attend the MMEIP event, while fostering truth, strengthening relationships, and supporting conversations around safety, healing and community well-being.
With doors opening at 5:30 and the banquet at 6, McGillivray highlights guest speakers Rachelle Venne, CEO of ESQUAO, and Stephanie Harpe.
McGillivray says the event gathering is not only about truth, strengthening relationships, and supporting conversations around safety, healing and community well-being, but also having a space for healing and supporting one-another through advocacy.
