Galaxyland at West Edmonton Mall has confirmed its next major roller coaster will centre on the Nerf brand, stepping into the space left by the retired Mindbender after 37 years of service.
Hasbro sponsors the indoor park and already lends its product names to multiple rides there.
The new attraction is scheduled to debut next spring and will let guests choose between a gentler “core” setting and a higher-adrenaline “quantum” experience.
Assembly of the track has been under way since mid-June within the 15-storey enclosure, generating noticeable buzz among visitors.
Officials first disclosed the replacement plan last October once parts of the new ride appeared in a nearby industrial area.
Devin Carradine is Galaxyland’s manager of admissions and attractions.
Edmonton’s top tourist and retail destination is home to more than 800 stores, more than 100 restaurants and food vendors, and two hotels, attracting an average of 30.8-million visitors each year.
