On May 12, community members of Samson Cree Nation elected Izaiah Swampy-Omeasoo as the new Chief after receiving 467 votes in the nation’s recent election.
Samson Cree Nation announced the election results on Facebook, with a total of 1,614 ballots that were cast as community members selected the new leadership. Following the announcement, newly elected Samson Cree Nation Chief Swampy-Omeasoo stated on social media saying “Thank You! Let the healing begin my people.”
