The boil water advisory is still in effect for Fort Chipewyan, with no word on when it will be lifted.
AHS issued the advisory after a depressurization in the water distribution system at the municipal water treatment plant. This does not apply to the communities of Allison Bay or Dog Head.
Residents and businesses using treated water in Fort Chipewyan are being told to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, brushing teeth, preparing infant formula, or making ice. The water is still safe for laundry and bathing.
For handwashing, you are advised to use soap and water, then apply hand sanitizer with more than 60 per cent alcohol.
Operators are working to correct the problem and restore normal service for the water treatment plant.
AHS says the advisory will remain in place until the water supply is fully restored and testing confirms it is safe to drink.
