The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled a pistachio product sold at an Edmonton nuts store due to possible salmonella contamination.
Four flavours of roasted pistachios – barbecue, salty, lemon and saffron – sold between April 8 and Oct. 29 are listed in the recall.
The products were sold at Fresh Nuts on 132 Avenue in Edmonton but there have been no reported illnesses so far CFIA said.
The CFIA said food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell bad, but can still cause illness such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.
Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
Anyone who believes they are sick from consuming a recalled product is advised to contact their health-care provider.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
