As the Provincial Teachers’ strike continues to impact families across Alberta, Hope Mission has launched emergency programs to support children and families in need with meals and care.
Scott Barclay, Senior Manager at Hope Mission, spoke with CFWE, saying many Albertans are facing uncertainty and food insecurity. In response, Hope Mission is providing emergency bagged lunches, frozen meals, and food hampers to help fill the gap.
Barclay highlighted ongoing day camps in Red Deer and Calgary, which are providing meals and supporting parents who are struggling to find childcare during the strike.
With one goal in mind, Barclay hopes children can witness the power of community coming together in times of struggle, helping families overcome challenges and thrive.
