Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued a boil water advisory for the Little Burnt River Water Co-Op.
The water system services some residences located between the Municipal District of Fairview and Clear Hills County.
AHS says the advisory is because of depressurization in the water system due to a water line break.
All residents and businesses are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to any consumption, including:
- drinking
- brushing teeth
- cleaning raw foods
- preparing infant formula or juices
- making ice, etc.
Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled.
For handwashing, AHS recommends washing with soap and water and using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing more than 60 per cent alcohol after drying your hands.
Little Burnt River Water Co-Op is working to fix the water line break and restore appropriate water supply.
AHS Environmental Public Health officers will continue to monitor the situation, including sampling and testing of the drinking water to ensure it is safe for consumption.
The advisory will remain in effect until water is restored and water quality is assured.
