A resident of Louis Bull First Nation is charged with the murder of an Ermineskin Cree Nation man, and was arrested in Saskatchewan after police asked the public to help find him.
On August 19, RCMP Major Crimes Unit announced that Ashton Deschamps was found and arrested in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He will be taken to court before he is brought back to Alberta to appear in court here. He was charged with second degree murder related to the death of 31 year old Chanse Twins on Louis Bull First Nation.
Police and paramedics were called to a Louis Bull residence August 13, in connection with a firearms complaint at a residence in the community. When they got there, emergency responders discovered the body of Twins.
An autopsy performed August 15, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Office in Edmonton determined the cause of death to be a homicide. Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit began its investigation and charged Deschamps, a 20-year-old resident of Louis Bull First Nation, with second-degree murder.
