Additional mandatory evacuation orders were given late Wednesday night as wildfires continue to burn in northern Alberta.
Four northern communities were evacuated, starting with Chipewyan Lake at 5 p.m.
Then, between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., the province evacuated Red Earth Creek, Peerless Trout First Nation, and Loon River First Nation.
Officials have named a cluster of fires near Loon Lake, Trout Lake and Chipewyan Lake the Red Earth East wildfire complex, which consists of 10 different wildfires.
As of Thursday morning there are 43 active wildfires in Alberta with 24 classified as out of control.
