Items found inside guitar case by Grand Prairie RCMP on May 17, 2025
Grande Prairie RCMP have charged three adults and one youth from B.C. with multiple firearm and drug offences.
On May 17, RCMP attempted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cruze with a stolen plate.
The vehicle fled but Grande Prairie RCMP were able to locate the vehicle as it parked at a hotel.
RCMP said the occupants got out of the vehicle and fled into a room in a neighboring motel while carrying a guitar case.
After the suspects exited the room, RCMP conducted a safety sweep of the room where they noticed firearms.
A search warrant was obtained for the room and the following items were seized:
- 54.4 grams of cocaine;
- 73.2 grams methamphetamines;
- 28.02 grams of fentanyl;
- 29 Oxy pills;
- A loaded handgun;
- A stolen Kodiak Defence rifle;
- A 12 Gauge pump action shotgun;
- An altered .22 semi auto rifle; and
- Several hundred rounds of ammunition.
Tanner Allan Murray, 30, Justin David Sinclair, 29, Shawna Elizabeth Capot, 39, and a youth all from the Dawson Creek BC area were charged with multiple offences, including:
- Possession of controlled substance for purpose of trafficking (x4);
- Possession of property obtained by crime;
- Unauthorized possession of firearm (x4);
- Possession of a stolen firearm; and
- Other firearm-related offences (x8).
Murray and Sinclair were remanded into custody and are set to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 21.
The youth was released on conditions and is set to appear before the Alberta Youth Justice Court in Grande Prairie on June 16. Capot has a warrant out for her arrest.
