The Grande Prairie RCMP Special Investigation Unit have laid charges against two Grande Prairie men in relation to an investigation into allegations of sexual assault.
On May 5, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP received a report of sexual offences against a youth that allegedly took place between August and December 2024.
Grande Prairie RCMP initiated an investigation into the allegations with assistance from the Grande Prairie Caribou Centre.
As a result, Julian Gonzalez, 30, a resident of Grande Prairie has been charged with:
- Sexual exploitation
- Sexual assault (Two counts)
- Choking while committing an assault
- Assault
- Possession for the purpose of publishing child pornography
A second male, Kyle Pele, 23, a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with sexual assault as party to the offence.
Following a judicial hearing, Gonzalez and Pele were both released on conditions and will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 29, 2025.
Grande Prairie RCMP is continuing their investigation and believe there may be more victims.
