A man is in custody after an incident Saturday in which a stolen trackhoe was used to damage a number of police vehicles parked in the Bonnyville RCMP lot.
At around 6:55 p.m., a man drove the stolen trackhoe into the lot, where he dumped a number of boulders in front of the prisoner bay, before proceeding to damage five vehicles.
He then fled on foot.
Bonnyville RCMP searched for the man with the help of police dogs and drones, finding him shortly in a forest northwest of the detachment.
The suspect is currently in custody and waiting for an interim release hearing.
The suspect’s name has not been released as charges have not yet been sworn before the courts
