On Apr. 27, 2025 at approximately 1:30am, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a male with a large wound across his neck in Downtown Fort McMurray.
Upon arrival, Police and EMS located a 65-year old male they said was bleeding heavily from the neck. He was transported to Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
Wood Buffalo RCMP continued the investigation and determined that an altercation had occurred outside Rivers Casino, between the victim and another male.
Police reviewed the surveillance video from Rivers Casino and determined the identity of a 34-year-old male.
Lloyd Janvier, a resident of Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, is facing charges of aggravated assault, breach of probation and fail to comply with a release order.
Janvier was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and remanded into custody. He is set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Apr. 30, 2025.
