The Alberta government is investing $6.9 million to expand the Lakeshore Regional Police Service detachment building which serves five First Nations communities in the Lesser Slave Lake area.
The money will be used to expand the LRPS, which serves Driftpile Cree First Nation, Sawridge First Nation, Swan River First Nation, Sucker Creek First Nation and Kapawe’no First Nation.
The Lakeshore team consists of a chief of police, two inspectors, two sergeants, ten constables and seven support staff.

The province says the investment will help ensure First Nations police services have the modern facilities needed to provide effective policing and keep their communities safe, while promoting empowerment and self-determination within Indigenous communities.
In total, Budget 2025 has $30.9 million invested for First Nations policing in Alberta, for new and expanded facilities, as well as operational support.
