Three men are facing a list of charges following an armed robbery that took place in a Vegreville convenience store.
On March 23, 2025, at approximately 5:00 a.m. Vegreville RCMP received a report of a robbery at the Vegreville Petro Canada after a suspect entered the store and pointed a firearm at the employee, demanding money.
The store clerk’s purse and vehicle keys were also stolen as a result of the robbery.
The vehicle was spotted travelling West on HWY 16 towards Edmonton as the vehicle fled RCMP pursuit.
After a short pursuit, the vehicle lost control and struck a fence at Elk Island Park when one suspect was arrested. The remaining two suspects attempted to flee on foot, but with the help of neighboring RCMP members, air services, and Police Dog Services, Mounties were able to locate and arrest the additional suspects.
A search of the vehicle revealed a black revolver type pellet gun.
Edmonton residents 29-year-old Robert Cardinal, 29-year-old Adam Coates as well as Cold Lake resident 38-year-old Dakota Masson have been charged with:
- Robbery;
- Intimidation;
- Theft of Motor Vehicle;
- Flight from Police;
- Obstruction.
All three men were taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody for future court dates at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vegreville.
