Alberta’s Strongest Man competition will make its debut on March 29, testing the strength and determination of athletes from across the province. The Pro Am event will take place at Fire & Flood Emergency Services Ltd. in Belich Business Park, Red Deer County, and will feature 14 competitors.
The event promises to showcase some truly remarkable feats of strength, with challenges that include a massive 230-pound circus dumbbell, a wheelbarrow filled with nearly 1,000 pounds (which may require volunteers to help add weight), and a tough crucifix hold with 25 pounds of meat in each hand, provided by Big Bend Market, a local butcher shop.
The outdoor event is set for March, allowing for the unpredictable elements of Alberta’s weather to add an extra layer of difficulty for the athletes.
Admission to the event will be free, with the possibility of donations being collected for a local charity. The competition will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and attendees can enjoy food from Smokey’s Southern BBQ food truck, as well as coffee and hot chocolate.
