The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit reports that 27-year-old Derrick Phazar Whitford, of O’Chiese First Nation-a suspect in a homicide investigation, was safely arrested on Feb. 7.
Whitford was charged with second-degree murder on Jan. 28, for his alleged involvement in the death of 18-year-old Travis Strawberry, an O’Chiese resident.
RCMP notified the public of his charges and asked for assistance in locating him on Feb. 1. At the time, he was also allegedly wanted on several unrelated offences.
Police say he will be taken before a justice of the peace concerning his detention and future court date.
