
Lakeland Winter Festival
From a chili cookoff to axes and apples, the Bonnyville Friendship Centre is set to host the Lakeland Winter Festival at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre on February 8th.
Rebekah Gobert, Youth Coordinator with the Bonnyville Friendship Centre spoke with CFWE on the various activities planned for community members to participate in, and Angie McGilivray, Community Workforce Development Program Lead highlights the Chili cook-off event taking place at the Festival.

McGilivray speaks on the featured Tipi Storytelling that will be set up in the Lakeland Winter Festival that attendees can enter and hear stories from the Elder inside.

Gobert says she’s hopeful that the Lakeland Winter Festival will bridge the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members in Bonnyville by having fun and learning about Indigenous culture.

McGilivray goes on to say that with a hard couple of years within the community, the Lakeland Winter Festival aims to give families and chance to get a break and have fun.
