The province of Alberta is set to offer a flat monthly fee for parents with children who are enrolled in full-time day care, upping the $10 per- ay structure to $15 dollars per-day according to a government press release.
In an attempt to provide “transparency and predictability” for families, the province said the flat monthly fee will be $362.25.
The change is said to improve fairness to providers and increase the efficiency of the overall system according to the province.
The province will be covering roughly 80 percent of child care fees according to Matt Jones, the Alberta Minister of Jobs, Economy and Trade.
The changes wil also reduce funding inconsistencies between daycare providers within the same region, according ot the minister.
The new fee structure will be implemented by April 1, 2025.
