Drivers travelling between Edmonton and Strathcona County may experience delays as a large, slow-moving load will move north from Edmonton starting on Saturday Jan. 25.
The item being transported is an EO reactor used in the oil refining process. Due to its large size and weight, this load will travel at a maximum speed of 30 km/h.
The load will move with pilot vehicles, below posted speed limits and use the entire width of the highway including the shoulder.
It will also occasionally travel against the flow of traffic with lanes blocked off accordingly.
Here is the route the being taken beginning in south Edmonton:
Day 1 Jan. 25 (Night Move)
- Exit from 9325 51 Avenue, Edmonton
- 51 Avenue eastbound
- 75 Street southbound
- Whitemud eastbound counterflow
- Highway 216 southbound counterflow (Stage at Highway 216 Bypass)
Day 2 Jan. 26 (Night Move)
- Highway 216 southbound counterflow
- Highway 14 eastbound
- Highway 834 northbound closure
- Highway 15 westbound closure (Park at Highway 15 wide spot by Lamont)
Day 3 Jan 27 (Day Move)
- Highway 15 westbound
- Highway 15 westbound counterflow for 1.4 km
- Range Road 14 North
- Exit west into site (Shell Scotford Complex)
