As the festive month continues, Edmonton’s Food Bank says it’s behind on it’s donations for their Holiday Campaign.
In October, the food bank served more than 47,000 people through its hamper program. Due to the Canada Post strike, the food bank’s newsletters and 200,000 paper bags, which include locations to make donations, weren’t delivered.
Food and money items collected this year help beyond the holiday season, as this campaign is crucial for building inventory in the new year.
Doug Thompson is the Media & Communications Coordinator for the Food Bank and discussed the organisations goal for this winter.
One of the largest contributions made for the Food Bank is their involvement with Candy Cane Lane which starts up December 13th. Thompson says it’s one of the most crucial collaborative efforts to help ensure the Food Bank can reach their goal.
