The Edmonton Oilers will be celebrating their captain next week before they go against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Thursday, December 5, Connor McDavid will be presented a golden stick and a commemorative Tiffany crystal in recognition of scoring 1,000 career points.
Captain Connor McDavid made the milestone against the Nashville Predators at home on November 14.
He’s the 99th NHL player to achieve this goal and did so in his 659th NHL game.
McDavid is the fourth fastest player to reach this mark, behind Wayne Gretzky (424th game), Mario Lemieux (513th game) and Mike Bossy (656th game).
He’s also the fourth youngest player to score 1,000 career points at 27 years old.
His teammates will be honoring him with a gift during the ceremony, and there will be a video tribute to mark the occasion.
The Oilers have three away games coming up before the celebration, including Friday against the Utah Hockey Club.
