Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee held their ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, unveiling new housing for vulnerable people, families and elders. Tthe first tranche of new housing is installed, open and occupied. This housing development was made possible through grants from Cenovus and the government of Alberta.
CRDA said that 15 houses have been installed to date, with another 8 to come in four to five weeks.
Scott Duguid, CEO of Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee tells CFWE that it’s a huge day for the community.
Duguid adds that with the 15 new houses installed in their first phase, their next phase is to have more occupancy in an additional 8 new homes in December.
Duguid goes on to speak on their priority of focusing on the Elders within the community, with also ensuring that with creating these new homes will allow more job opportunities for Conklin members.
Duguid is hopeful that people can take away that the housing development was a community grass-rooted driven initiative with help from Cenovus and strong voices from Conklin.
