
Alberta will test it’s emergency alert system on Wednesday November 20, with residents receiving a test alert on their cellphones, as well as through TV and radio broadcasts.
The emergency alert will be sent at 1:55 p.m.
In addition to Wildfire or other serious events, the system is also utilized for issuing Amber Alerts and urgent bulletins concerning child abductions where the child is believed to be in severe danger.
According to Alert Ready statistics, in 2024, there have been six alerts in Alberta – the highest of any province, with four of those alerts being due to a wildfire. Nationwide 22 alerts have been issued.
