Indigenous Veterans Day is observed in Canada on 8 November. The day recognizes the contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis veterans of the Canadian armed forces.
Indigenous Veterans Day was an initiative of the National Aboriginal Veterans Association. It was first observed on 8 November 1993.
Rellik sat down with Chuck Isaacs from the Aboriginal Veterans Society of Alberta along with Jocelyn Eastman . Clint Eastman, CHarles ” Chuck ‘ Boberly McBurnie and Sean Donavan, all Canadian veterans.
They chat about the importance of the day , what it means to Indigenous veterans and what the future holds and to hopefully see the two days ,merge to one, as an act of reconciliation.
Rellik also caught up with Gladys Bruce, who spent time with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Radar Operator during the Cold War, along with Simon Paul who spent time overseas during the Cold War:
