The City of Red Deer’s Annual ‘Toys for Ticket’s’ returns to ensure no child goes without a toy for the holidays, with all donations going towards the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.
Anyone who receives a City-issued parking ticket in November can pay it by donating a toy. Toys can be dropped off at City Hall until November 30 and must be of equal or greater value than the amount owing on the ticket. Toys must be new and in original packaging, and ticket holders must provide an original receipt showing the value of the toy.
Stephanie Gramlich, Parking Coordinator with the City of Red Deer spoke with CFWE on the return of the fundraiser, and since 2007, over 10,000 toys have been given to children to put smiles on children’s faces.
Gramlich adds that it’s heartwarming to see local children within Red Deer get a gift for Christmas from the fundraiser, with residents in the city purposefully getting a ticket so that they can pay it with a toy that goes a long way.
