Wabasca RCMP recently partnered with ALERT’s Integrated Gang Enforcement Team to address community concerns related to gang activity.
ALERT spent the week of October 21-25th in the community and surrounding regions. Working alongside Wabasca RCMP officers, ALERT conducted targeted enforcement and vehicle interdiction on known A$AP gang members and their associates.
A$AP, which stands for Always Strive and Prosper, is a street gang who are spread across northern and central Alberta, and correctional institutions. Their criminal activities are connected to drug trafficking, break and enters, robberies, stolen property, and are known to rely on violence.
As part of the recent deployment, ALERT conducted upwards of 30 vehicle stops, issued five violation tickets, several probation enforcement checks, and one licensed premise ejection. ALERT also seized methamphetamine and contraband cigarettes.
“A$AP has maintained an intimidating presence in the community. Our goal with this deployment was to confront that through a host of enforcement initiatives aimed at disrupting criminal activities,” said Inspector Angela Kemp, ALERT.
Anyone with information about this investigation, or who suspect drug or gang activity in their community can call their local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
