Two people are now facing charges related to drugs and weapons following a collaborative investigation.
Wetaskiwin RCMP, along with Alberta Sheriffs Safer Community and Neighbourhoods Team (SCAN), began a drug trafficking investigation at a residence in the 4700 block of 52 Avenue in Wetaskiwin after several complaints were received from citizens within the community.
As a result of the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at the residence on Oct. 18, 2024.
During the search, RCMP located the following:
- 58 grams of suspected fentanyl
- 25.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- Imitation firearms
- Weapons – Crossbow, hatchet
- Ammunition
- Other items consistent with drug trafficking.
Harold Sharkey (46), a resident of Wetaskiwin, has been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Fail to comply with release order
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Sharkey was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing. He will appear in a Wetaskiwin court room on Oct. 22, 2024.
Cinda Doyle (38), a resident of Millet, Alta., has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2).
Doyle was released from custody and will appear in a Wetaskiwin court room on Oct. 31, 2024.
