Nanekawâsis is a labour of love brought to film by director Conor McNally. The film/documentary highlights a mix of archival and current film footage of Elder George Littlechild who spans the film with his growth as a multi-media artist and also documents his past as growing up in the midst of the Sixties scoop. Littlechild’s artwork talents start as a young child to growing up to become a proud Indigenous artist who leaves his mark on the world.
Director Conor McNally reflects with Kimberley LaFramboise on the journey about telling Littlechild’s story with sensitivity, laughter, and pride in bringing a First Nations film to film festivals nation-wide.
