The North American Indigenous Games are coming to Alberta in 2027, bringing over 5,000 youth and athletes together in Calgary. The games are held every four years and athletes compete in games like lacrosse and track and field as well as traditional sports, honoring Indigenous culture.
These games will take place in the territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations), the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Îyâxe Nakoda (Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney Nations). Calgary is also home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Districts 5 & 6.
