The Edmonton Elks announced a donation of more than $500,000 dollars to Edmonton’s amateur football community, with proceeds coming from the club’s successful hosting of the 2018 Grey Cup.
Evan Daum, VP of Marketing and Fan Engagement with the Edmonton Elks spoke with CFWE as he says it’s a great opportunity for the Elks to help continue the growth of grass roots football within Edmonton for all levels of football to get more children involved in the sport.
Daum says the sport starts at a young age for many football athletes within Edmonton, with the proceeds going towards Capital District Minor Football Assoc, or Football Alberta, the donations will help get more children involved in the sport of Football at all levels of the sport.
Ryan Schulha, Senior Programs Manager, Capital District Minor Football Assoc spoke with CFWE saying that receiving the 40,000 donation from the Edmonton Elks will go towards the children at all levels in grass rooted football including boys and girls tackle and flag football.
Schulha adds that the more fees that are lowered following the Elks donation, the more children can get involved within the sport of Football, with over 3,000 families a part of the programing throughout the year with Capital District Minor Football that will benefit families in Fort McMurray, Lloydminster, Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Leduc and Beaumont.
