For the past few years there has been a cry for more physicians as wait times to see one has increased with many medical personnel have been feeling the strain of being short staffed.
A new report from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) for its second quarter says there has been an increase to physicians in the province of Alberta.
The second quarter report from the CPSA shows there are currently 11, 756 new physicians in Alberta since the second quarter report of 2023.

Alberta Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange in a public statement says, “This increase is incredibly positive, but we’re not stopping our efforts to attract more physicians. As part of the Health Workforce Strategy, we are working to increase the number of spaces in our province’s medical schools, residency positions and training opportunities for international medical graduates.” she continues, “We are also working with Alberta Health Services, health care providers and communities all over the province to strengthen our health care system so it can properly support our physicians and overall health care workforce.”
