One man is facing charges following an investigation into stolen bronze memorial plaques though out the Leduc area.
In November of 2023 Leduc RCMP began the investigation into the theft of bronze memorial plaques that were a part of memorial benches in and around the city.
The missing plaques were part of a commemorative bench program offered by the City of Leduc for residents who want to honour and pay tribute to a loved one in one of the city’s natural spaces.
On July 10, 2024, Leduc RCMP attended a business in Nisku and recovered thirteen bronze memorial plaques believed to have been stolen from the benches in Leduc.

As a part of the investigation, Leduc RCMP identified the suspect who brought the plaques to the business and he was arrested.
Morgan Lance Landry (27), a resident of Leduc, Alta. was charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Landry is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc on Aug. 1, 2024.
