The City of St. Albert has issued a Fire Restriction that is effective immediately. The change from the current Fire Advisory to a Fire Restriction is due to the forecasted continuation of warm and dry conditions, with no substantial precipitation expected over the next 7 days.
All open burning is prohibited, including:
- Wood burning firepits located on driveways
- Firepits and barbecues in public parks
- Burn barrel and incinerators in rural areas
The following is still allowed, but residents should use extra caution:
- All wood burning firepits must be permitted and be used in compliance with the Fire Services Bylaw.
- Wood burning firepits must be fully extinguished before being left unattended.
- Wood burning firepits must always be used with a screen spark arrestor.
- Propane and natural gas private firepits, barbeques and smokers on private property.
Residents are asked to use extra caution with propane and natural gas outdoor appliances, and dispose of smoking materials (cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches or lighters) properly. A reminder that the discharge of unauthorized pyrotechnics and fireworks is prohibited at all times within the City of St. Albert.
St. Albert Fire Services will continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates on stalbert.ca and albertafirebans.ca. To report a fire please call 911.
