The Rocky View Métis District of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation of Alberta is gearing up to host the First Annual Métis Culture Days in Lake Louise from July 5th until July 7th, that will feature fun activities for kids and families to enjoy.
The event in Lake Louise was made possible from the Otipemisiwak Métis Government receiving a grant from Parks Canada, in a quote from the President of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Andrea Sandmaier states;
“I am thrilled to be attending this inaugural Métis Culture Days, it’s a great opportunity to showcase our distinct culture and traditions to a large audience. On behalf of our government, I would also like to thank Parks Canada for its contribution.”
Amber Boyd, district captain of the Rocky View Métis District says the event will be tons of fun, and speaks on what attendees can expect at the Métis Culture Days in Lake Louise.
With working within the Indigenous advisory circle with Banff’s National Parks, Boyd adds that her works to bring more Indigenous tourism back to the area with showcasing the culture with what Métis people would have done by the lake shore in Lake Louise.
Boyd hopes that many that plan to come out to the Métis Culture Days will learn more about the history and the culture of the Métis, as well as to enjoy the park in Lake Louise.
