A three year old is dead following a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in south Edmonton.
At approximately 5:08 p.m. on Thursday June 27, 2024, Southwest Branch patrol officers responded to a collision involving a truck and three pedestrians in the area of Allard Road SW and Allard Boulevard SW.
A 2019 Ford F150 truck was travelling northbound on Allard Road SW when it stopped quickly at the three-way stop at Allard Boulevard SW, according to a police report.
Simultaneously, an adult woman and her two young children, a boy and a girl, were walking eastbound across Allard Road SW in a marked crosswalk on the southside of the intersection. After briefly stopping, the truck reportedly turned left onto Allard Boulevard SW (westbound), running over the boy and striking the mother and her daughter.
EMS did respond, however the three year old boy was pronounced dead on scene. The 39-year-old mother and daughter were then transported to hospital as they suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, a 30–year-old man remained on scene and did not report any injuries.
EPS Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) has started an investigation into the crash. Charges are pending according to EPS.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.
