Keyano College in Fort McMurray is receiving major upgrades to its Haul Truck Operator program.
Prairies Economic Development Canada is investing $766,000 towards two state-of-the-art haul truck simulators. The federal agency is also funding software upgrades to the four existing simulators at the Suncor Energy industrial campus.
“The addition of these advanced simulators will significantly expand and upgrade our program, setting a new standard for training excellence,” said Brandon Fleury, Director of Facilities and Asset Management for Keyano College.
Keyano says delivering enhanced learning experiences to local First Nations and Métis communities was a key factor in securing the investment – helping to improve industry access to skilled workers while supporting economic opportunities for Indigenous communities.
