Fort McMurray is gearing up to honour and celebrate Indigenous History and culture throughout the month of June in recognition of National Indigenous History Month with burgers and bannock at the island and ‘It’s Read Time with Richard Van Camp’.
Allison Flett, advisor for Indigenous and Rural Relations with RMWB speaks on what community members can expect with this years events.
Flett says that the RMWB wanted something fun and to celebrate Indigenous brilliance, and adds that Richard Van Camp was the perfect fit to help educate children on the rich history of Indigenous Culture.
Flett hopes the community members will take the time to reflect on the rich history of the six First Nation communities within Wood Buffalo and to keep the conversation going.
