In celebration of 30 years, the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society steps into the spotlight with an upcoming documentary that started filming in March 2024 and is set for release on Telus Optik in 2025. Produced by Lightbulb Labs and funded by the TELUS STORYHIVE* program, this project illuminates the invaluable work of Bent Arrow in Edmonton. Through compassion and dedication, the film showcases Bent Arrow’s mission to uplift youth, children, and families, fostering empowerment in both Indigenous and Western cultures.
Vernon Boldick, director of the documentary speaks on the working title, and adds that the documentary will showcase the work that the Bent Arrow has done within the community for the past 30 years.
With celebrating 30 years, Boldick says that the documentary will showcase the work of the staff and the healing and resiliency from participants of past programs held within the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society that healed and have grown over the years.
Boldick goes on to say that the biggest takeaway from the documentary is seeing the community that has been built within Bent Arrow, from the Cultural Camps in June, to round dances and pow wow events that thousands of people attend to see the culture on full display.
Boldick speaks on Mike Day, and Ashley Mincone as they speak on their journey of resilience and healing they received from attending the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society.
