A youth on a bicycle was killed in a south Edmonton hit and run Wednesday morning.
The youth, who’s age wasn’t released was found on 34 Avenue between 48 Street and Mill Woods Road around 4am. He passed away at the scene.
According to Sgt. Richard Windover, there was no vehicle at the scene when emergency responders arrived. Edmonton Police Service’s major collisions unit has taken over the investigation.
EPS members have confirmed the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of 34 Avenue east of 48 Street. The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) was called out to scene and has since taken over the investigation.
The suspect vehicle has since been identified as a blue 2014-2018 Mazda 3 sedan or hatchback. The suspect vehicle incurred damage to its front end and driver side.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this vehicle or its driver is asked to contact police. Investigators are also asking anyone driving through the Mill Woods area that has dash camera footage of the collision and/or the suspect vehicle leaving the scene to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
