The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation announced that a million dollars will be donated to 30+ Schools in the country from the Literacy Fund Grant, with four First Nation Schools in Alberta receiving funding to increase the library budget and ensuring new books for students.
This year, Indigo is committing a combined total of $145,000 to Alberta schools:

- Falconridge School ($75K)
- Stavely School ($10K)
- Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate ($10K)
- Tsuut’ina Education Department ($50K)
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Rose Lipton, executive director for the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation as speaks on how the Foundation enhances many school libraries across the country with the Literacy Fund Grant, with many schools not being able to afford to provided books that students are looking for, with Indigo looking to aid in helping schools to get access to newer books.
Lipton adds the schools such as Falcon Ridge, Stavely, Kapawe’no and Tsuut’ina have put in the much needed work and detail to showcase the passion for literacy, and feeling over the moon with excitement when their school was chosen to receive the needed funding to bring new books to their libraries.
Lipton says that the dream is to ensure that when a student is looking for a book in their school library, that they have access to getting their hands on the novel they’re looking for.
Lipton says she enjoys seeing Children going through the program to getting inspired to pursue a future career from reading the newly added books from the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation.
