From May 25 until June 1st, the Peace River Salvation Army Community Food Bank Drive is set to host a Food Bank Drive to gather non-perishable items as demand for food hampers increase within the community.
Sandra LaForest, Family Services Case Worker with the Peace River Salvation Army spoke with CFWE as she says that she’s excited to see the community come together to help fill the shelves within the food bank.
With a bag being hung on every door of the community in Peace River on May 25 for households to donate towards the food drive, LaForest adds that with this year alone, there has been an increase in food intake and a decrease in donations due to the economy and rise of inflation, adding that the food bank is in desperate need of donations.
LaForest speaks on the needed items that the food bank is looking for from donations, such as pasta sauce, rice, juice and other non-perishable food items.
When the community comes together and donates items for those in need, LaForest adds her and the Peace River Salvation Army are thankful for the support from the locals in Peace River.
