Red Dress day is Sunday May 5th, with events happening all across the city to honour and commemorate missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls as well as bring awareness to this pivotal discussion.
The Muttart Theatre within the downtown Stanley A Milner library is set to host the “Silent No More“ Film Festival on both Saturday and Sunday.
The event is FREE to attend and will showcase eight films which will dive deep into the heart of this important topic.
Hosted by The Edmonton Heyoka Healing Society, this weekend’s guests will include Alyssa Wapanatâhk, the actress best known for her roles in Bones of Crows as well as the 2023 rendition of the classic Peter Pan and Wendy where she played the iconic character Tiger Lily which is now streaming on Disney Plus.
Alyssa will be speaking on the panel for the Representation of Indigenous Women in Film.
Andrea Lambert, Volunteer Co-Ordinator for the society stopped by the studio with Alyssa to chat about what people can expect this weekend.
