The Sacred Turtle Woman Healing Centre celebrated their grand opening to the public last week. They are Indigenous service organization utilizing a culturally-based addictions Wellness experience, focused on personal development while staying true to culture.
Paying tribute to late Elder Victoria Whalen, STWHC embodies kinship, respect, kindness, and empowerment through traditional teachings and ceremony while addressing issues pertinent to Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island.
Taylor Dumais, the Executive Assistant of the Sacred Turtle Woman Healing Centre cited her own personal battles with addiction and says finding her sense of belonging through culture helped her find sobriety.
The lodge is located at the old ‘Silver Summit’ ski resort approximately 45 minutes outside of Edson. According to Dumais, at it’s core, the Sacred Turtle Woman Healing Centre provides a level of seclusion that can’t be matched anywhere else.
