The Edmonton Oilers made a statement to the rest of the Western Conference with a dominate 5-1 victory over the Las Vegas Golden Knights, a team they could very well see in the playoffs later this summer.
Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl both stepped up in the absence of their captain Connor McDavid, both netting 1 goal and 1 assist. The Oilers found depth scoring from Cody Ceci, Mattias Ekholm and youngster Dylan Holloway.
With the NHL playoffs just around the corner, it’s important for teams to have confidence in all four lines, Oilers Head Coach Kris Knoblauch spoke with media following the game and praised the Oilers bottom 6 scoring throughout the season.
For a third consecutive season, the Oilers have hit the 100 point plateau, thanks in part to a 10-0-1 run at home over their last 11 games at Rogers Place.
