The Grande Prairie Airport will be going through some changes after the province provided $140,000 for renovations with the possibility of adding customs and the Canada Border Service Agency.
The airport’s 20 year expansion plan and a new study on the Canadian Border Services Agency Facilities will help streamline the process.
Brian Grant, CEO of the Airport hopes to see some flights be able to go to Mexico or other warm destinations during the winter, eliminating Edmonton and Calgary as connecting flights for any locals attempting to vacation.
The funding is part of Alberta’s $1.3M plan to support regional airports.
