Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival returns to Metro Cinema

The 2024 Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival returns to Metro Cinema in Edmonton on April 26-28, where over 40 films will be showcased, with filmmakers panels and an animation workshop and more will be on site.

Aretha Greatrix, program director at the Dreamspeakers Festival Society says that Dreamspeakers carves out a space for local and international filmmakers at different levels to showcase the love of storytelling.

Greatrix speaks on her excitement for this years festival as she hopes that movie goers will enjoy what the Film Festival has in store for them in this years showcase.

Greatrix hopes that those who attend the event will see that Dreamspeakers uplifts and showcases Indigenous stories for both International and local.

Greatrix adds that the term ‘Indigenous’ is an umbrella term that covers many across the globe, from Japan and Iran to the Indigenous people of Canada.
