The City of Grande Prairie is ready to get artistic for a great cause as the first-ever ‘Paint A Puck’ fundraising event makes it’s way to the Teresa Sargant Hall, with all the proceeds going towards the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre.
Jessica Groome, executive director and chief curator at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie speaks on her excitement for ‘Paint a Puck’, and adds that it’s a great collaboration within the community to bring it to everyone.
Groome says that all the proceeds will be going towards the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, as they where very happy with the collaboration to aid them in funding towards the centre.
Groome adds that this event is the first of it’s kind within the City of Grande Prairie, as 750 hockey pucks have been donated from Canadian Tire for creative painting, and once every puck is done, it will be on displayed at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships.
Groome hopes that people will take away that it’s a community event for the community for all ages to participate and knowing that the artwork is being used to support the Friendship Centre and the competing Hockey Players, and adds that there is an artist in all of us to create something great.
