
Elders participating in the Cut Rock Walk in Fort Chip
The Cut Rock Walk is making a return to Fort Chipewyan to raise money for the Cancer Society on June 22nd in the Mikisew Treaty Day Grounds.
In previous walks, the event raised $85,000 dollars during the Mikisew Cree Nation Treaty Days.
CFWE spoke with Darlene Cardinal, organizer of the Cut Rock Walk as she says she’s very excited for the fourth walk to take place and to gather the Elders and children from the community to come together for a great cause.

Cardinal speaks on the past walks and how much was raised, and is hopeful to raise more in this years fundraising event.

Cardinal says the community of Fort Chipewyan has been suffering from cancer for years, with the donations going towards machines and needed medical supplies within the community through the Cancer Society.
