An Edmonton man is now facing charges after EPS have discovered what they refer to as a “sophisticated” operation that involves the #D printin of weapons from inside his residence.
The allegations by the EPS suggest that the accused was preparing to traffic these 3D printed weapons onto the streets of Edmonton.
It is being coined the first “significant seizure” of what the EPS guns and gangs division describes as “ghost guns.”
In total, three loaded handguns were seized along with 16 privately manufactured Glock-style handguns, 27 high-capacity magazines, a homemade suppressor, along with a commercial-grade 3D printer and blueprints believed to be used in the manufacturing of the weapons.
Two prohibited semi-automatic firearms were also seized which are believed to have been smuggled into Canada from south of the border.
In 2023, Project Reproduction began as a national investigation into privately manufactured firearms. Edmonton police were tipped off by Quebec provincial police that parts were being purchased by an Edmonton man to produce 3D firearms.
The suspect’s home was then searched on June 20th of 2023.
Roy Evan Tucker, now 29, was charged Feb. 13 with 43 offences related to firearms manufacturing. Those include firearms trafficking (manufacturing), possession of firearms knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession for the purpose of firearms trafficking, and possession of prohibited/restricted firearms.
